Tuesday Tribute to Junk Stores

It's Tuesday. Tribute Tuesday to be exact. That means I have to do a post on someone other than myself. Jay and Deb are bossy like that. See, look directly to your right. They made me put the button up there, too, so you can click and go to their blogs. So I am going to give my tribute this week to second hand stores that benefit great charities. (I never follow instructions to the letter, so I am branching out here. Plus I had this for today's post before I remembered what day it was. Sue me.)
These places such as Good Will, Salvation Army, Soul's Harbour, local women's shelters, and many others need our support financially to keep their wonderful organizations going. They have great things donated and schleps like me drag them home and re-do them.
Below are some pictures of my latest rescue.
An old antique table that I bought at a junk shop. She was $10. And she was very unloved. She needed a new home and I needed a new desk.

This is what she looked like before. She was all sad and worn.
Man, my posts and front door need re-staining!

A little sanding, a little paint and stain, and she looks good as new. Only her edges have been re- sanded and stained to make her look not-perfect. I cannot have something perfect in my house.
That chair is the next project. She doesn't go with the table all brown and shiney in her pleather dress. And before you tell me, I know the rug is too small. Remember I am lazy and I would have had to move it. And no, I didn't mop the floors either.

I think she is sexier than me in a blonde wig.

No, Amy, you can't have her.

If you haven't ventured inside one of these shops, I highly encourage it. You will be giving back to the community as they assist those needing help.
Donate items or money for the homeless, the abused women, the needy families, and people trying to get their life together. God knows if it's cool, I will buy it.

Wow..looks like you landed a great find. A little elbow grease never hurt no one.

I think baby diarrhea is sexier than you in that blonde wig.

Nice find though. You'll have to take me around and show me how it's done. I never find anything, but I am NOT the most patient person in the world. Unbelievable huh? Right? RIGHT!!!???

Wowee, woman, you made that table look fantastic!!!!!!!! I need to go cruising these places to see what I can find. But then I'll need to fly you down here to re-do the stuff for me, 'cause I have no talent for that.

Justine :o )

Dang! Do you do people makeovers? Could you make me beautiful like that table?

Great! I love doing this...not the sanding and the painting and all that but Ilove finding cheap used stuff and saving it from the land fill! Plus, the money goes to a great cause! You did an excellent job! I love your curtains! I need to do this...I have awful blinds in the family room...gross...it bugged me all Christmas!

Oh wow, you have props, lady. I thought you had a cool table in there, but the view from your bushes and spotlights is a bit encumbered.

Congrats on your innate ability to take advantage of the misfortune of others. When I lose my home you can come salvage our wares...our toilet seats in particular could be diamonds if you clean them up.

;-)

In all seriousness, I seriously wish I had your MADD Skillz. I would show you some of the things I have done, but I think they ended up looking slightly worse than I found them.

Loved the post, GREAT Tribute!

If I go hang out in a junk store, would you take me home, sand me, repaint me, and make me look that good?

Oh, you're one of those able to see cool potential in everything, no matter what, kind of chicks.

I so want to be that way!!

But then I would have to give up blogging to actually complete a project.

For now, I just admire yours.

(Give you $30 for it.)

You are a superstar!

While you were out there, why didn't you just do your posts and door? how can you even walk through that door without thinking that....everyday!!!???? I would be soooooo embarrassed!
I'm glad it's dark out when the trick or treaters come around or you might be judged by the community!

Can you here the sarcasm?
